John Arden, PhD is the author of 12 books including: Rewire Your Brain. He is lead author of the books: Brain-Based Therapy:Adult and Brain-Based Therapy:Child
His first book, Consciousness, Dreams, and Self, was awarded the 1997 Outstanding Academic Book Award by Choice, a publication of the American Library Association. An international panel of jurists nominated his second book: Science, Theology, and Consciousness, for the CTS award funded by the Templeton Foundation. His book: America’s Meltdown: Creating the Lowest Common Denominator Society explored the degradation of the fabric of American society.
He is highly trained in in neuropsychology and is the director of training for mental health for the Kaiser Permanente Medical Centers in Northern California. In this capacity, he oversees one of the largest mental health training programs in the world, operating in 22 different medical centers throughout Northern California. He also practices part-time at Kaiser Permanente in Petaluma and San Rafael, and he served for several years as the Chief Psychologist at Kaiser Vallejo. He has taught in colleges, professional schools, and universities.

Abstract
This workshop will cover clinical information on the causes with an in-depth investigation on the symptoms of depression. Current clinical research on the impact and pervasiveness of depression will also be explored. Finally, different treatment methods on depression will be discussed in details.
Dr. Leung is the Program Director for the Alliant International University/California School of Professional Psychology's Singapore M. Sc. Clinical Psychology and the Hong Kong PsyD Programs. He held the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, at the University of California, San Francisco; and was the attending psychologist at the Asian-Pacific Psychiatric Inpatient Unit at the San Francisco General Hospital. He has more than twenty years of clinical experiences serving the Chinese population in the San Francisco Bay Area, Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China; providing psychodiagnostic evaluation and treatment.

Abstract
This workshop will cover recent advances in psychopharmacology for adults. This is a basic to intermediate level workshop. New psychotropic agents will be reviewed with a focus on clinical use. Current clinical controversies, including the use of antidepressants and antipsychotic in children and the elderly, will be discussed. Mental health professionals will gain an understanding of newer agents they are likely to encounter in everyday practice. Strategies for combining pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions will be discussed.
Objectives
Participants will gain knowledge of the clinical use of new psychotropic agents and some understanding of basic pharmacological principles underlying the use of these new agents.
Participants will gain an awareness of side effects and potential interactions of newer psychotropic agents.
Participants will attain an understanding of how these agents can best be employed in combined treatment strategies.
Morgan T. Sammons is Systemwide Dean of the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. He is a retired Captain in the US Navy. He is a prescribing psychologist and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 18, 19, 28, 31, 42, and 55). He is immediate past President of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, president of APA’s division 55, a past-president of the Maryland Psychological Association, a past member of the APA’s Policy and Planning board, and a past member of the APA’s Council of Representatives. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Professional Psychology (Clinical). He contributes frequently to the professional literature. He is an associate editor of the APA journal Psychological Services. He lectures extensively on issues pertaining to psychopharmacologic practice and the professional practice of psychology.

ABSTRACT
This seminar is designed for students and practitioners interested in the scope and applications of forensic psychology in offender profiling, victim selection, crime scene investigations, and serial crimes. Participants will be introduced to the emergence of forensic specializations such as the study of terrorism, bombers, arsonists, stalkers, and serial killers. Several criminal case studies are examined that highlight the need for persons with training in forensic psychology. Special focus will be given to the etiology and investigation of sexual predators such as rapists, child molesters and pedophiles. Participants will be introduced to the role of paraphilia in sex crimes. Case studies of sexual predators are examined in relation to understanding criminal paraphilia, fantasy, criminal personalities, profiling, and crime scene investigations.
